Mary the Mother of Jesus and Jesus the Prophet of Allah…

Many are not actually aware that there is a whole chapter on Mary (Maryam), the Mother of Jesus in the Quran.

This chapter not only gives sequence of events leading to Jesus’s birth but also nullifies the false statements of people who have claimed Jesus as God or son of God!

Surah Maryam verses interpreted in English:

(19:16) And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east.

(19:17) And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel, and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man.

(19:18) She said, “Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allah.”

(19:19) He said, “I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy.”

(19:20) She said, “How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?”

(19:21) He said, “Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.’ ”

(19:22) So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place.

(19:23) And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, “Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten.”

(19:24) But he called her from below her, “Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream.

(19:25) And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.

(19:26) So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, ‘Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man.’ ”

(19:27) Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, “O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented.

(19:28) O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste.”

(19:29) Thereupon Mary pointed to the child. They exclaimed: “How can we speak to one who is in the cradle, a mere child?”

(19:30) The child cried out: “Verily I am Allah’s servant. He has granted me the Book and has made me a Prophet

(19:31) and has blessed me wherever I might be and has enjoined upon me Prayer and Zakah (purifying alms) as long as I live;

(19:32) and has made me dutiful to my mother. He has not made me oppressive, nor bereft of God’s blessings.

(19:33) Peace be upon me the day I was born and the day I will die, and the day I will be raised up alive.”

(19:34) This is Jesus, the son of Mary; and this is the truth about him concerning which they are in doubt.

(19:35) It does not befit Allah to take for Himself a son. Glory be to Him! When He decrees a thing He only says: “Be” and it is.

(19:36) (Jesus had said): “Indeed Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so serve Him alone. This is the Straight Way.”

(19:37) But different parties began to dispute with one another. A dreadful woe awaits on that great Day for those that reject the Truth.

(19:38) How well shall they hear and how well shall they see on the Day they come to Us! But today the evil-doers are in manifest error.

Now these are the verses from the Quran which clearly rebut their claims and also gives severe warning to those who dispute and reject the truth.

It actually amazes me to look back that when Jesus (Peace be upon him) came, not all Jews accepted him as the messenger and prophet of Allah. Among those who accepted went on to be known as Christians, after many years of Jesus being raised above alive. Now these very Christians rejected and continue to reject the last and the final prophet in the same manner like how the other Jews rejected Jesus. That’s simply an irony.

In fact the last and the final prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was also mentioned by Jesus to the children of Israel. Unfortunately, today’s Christians failed to realize that the last prophet was actually the one sent for the whole of mankind and Jesus was sent only for the children of Israel.

May the One who made us all guide by His own mercy!
