Stop the Jahilliyah!

Unfortunately our people are still in their jahilliyah following their customary practices which clearly goes against the Qur’an. The irony is that they adhere to it more strictly than even the pillars of Islam!

What more can be so disheartening to see them in a state, especially when things are explained to them, where the whole community comes together to fight the one who speaks the truth.

Perhaps they are happy living life in their contumacy following their jahilliyah which their forefathers got with them instead of what the prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) got for his ummah.

One who sticks to his community and what they follow, even if it goes against the teachings of the prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) then indeed they are following jahilliyah.

So, if a person dies and you go for his janazah and you expect their family to prepare a feast for you on this occasion, and if they don’t and you get upset then that is jahilliyah. It’s so bizarre that you expect a mourning family to feed you.

If a woman wants to get married and she cannot because she needs to pay you dowry, then that is jahilliyah.

If a girl child is despised for the want of a male child, then that is jahilliyah.

If a man wants to make his Nikah simple, and you get offended for not keeping up with the Joneses, then that is jahilliyah.

If a man doesn’t take care or treat you well and he happens to be your father or any other relative, and because of that you want to break your kinship and even go to the extent of abusing him and killing him, then that is jahilliyah.

If a man wants to worship the dead and seek blessings from the dead or even the scholars and pious people then that is also jahilliyah.

If a man believes in superstitions and follows that way to gain in this world, then that is also jahilliyah.

If a man goes to a soothsayer – those who claim to tell your future, then that is also jahilliyah.

If a man believes in magic and does or seek to inflict misery on others, then that is also jahilliyah.

These are just few examples and am sure you know many of them, as you might have come across or might have even taken part in it.

So beware and repent, and mend your ways before it’s too late.

May Allah protect us from all such kinds of jahilliyah, which are nothing but deviations from the straight path!
